Evaluation Task 4

Evaluation Task 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Here is our Magazine advert and Digipak feedback.
Our feedback was received from peers from our school and our class teachers. Here me and Josh analyse our Magazine Adverts and Digipaks and how they have changed over the duration of this course.

Feedback for our rough cut can be found on earlier blog posts.
Here is our director's commentary from Josh and Matthew about the Rough Cut of Matthew's edit which was very similar to mine and Josh's edit.

Some parts of this video can't be heard clearly, therefore I will write the feedback we received for this rough cut.
We received a mixed reception for the shot of our dogs, some liked it and some didn't. We were advised to use more shots of Josh from a lower angle as we used one in an earlier rough cut which worked really well. We were also advised to remove the blur affect that was put in as it looked like a bad shot rather than the effect we were going for which was to make it look as if the point of view was coming from someone who was drunk. Some of the lip syncing wasn't perfect, therefore we decided to cut some clips where Josh forgets his lyrics and add footage of Josh walking and acting up to the camera instead.

In this directors commentary me and Matthew talk about our Final Cut and how we changed it from the rough cut. We explain what bits have been added/removed and how this cut is slightly different from the cut before.

In this video Matthew talks about the feedback which we received from our Questionnaire.

Here Matthew tweeted the link of our video to his twitter followers on behalf of our group to gain more feedback.

Here is the feedback received after Matthew had tweeted. The general overview of our video was that it was good and fun to watch, however our audience would have liked to have seen more locations being used to give our video that bit of extra creativity.

Finished Outside Panels for Digipak

Here is our finished 6 panel digipak. Our front and back cover have been shown in earlier posts with more detail. For the third panel we decided to take a picture of our artists' shoes. This was to show his style and 'swagger' as he is seen wearing hi-top trainers and baggy jeans which was the look we were intending to go for. We have also included a spine as our previous layout was without a spine. For our spine we decided to keep it simple, we used the same font as we did for the front and back cover but just changed the colour to black with a white background. Also, from out album research we found out that most albums have the record label within the spine, so this is why we added our record label. We decided to also include a 7 digit number after the record label as we found that this was also featured in all of the digipaks that we looked at. We didn't edit any of the inside panels as they received good feedback.

Back Cover - Final

For our back cover we decided to take a shot in the recording booth while we were shooting for our test shoot. We used this shot as we didn't want another shot of Josh posing, we wanted a shot which looked natural and one that looked real. The track listing on the black paper on the wall was purely a random choice, we took a various amount of photos and decided to use this one. We had no idea that our track listing would go there. We are very happy with this as it looks as if it was all planned and looks like a good idea. From our draft digipak we have repositioned the barcode slightly inner than before. We thought it looked unfinished and very rough that the barcode was touching the edge of the cover. Also, from further digipak research we have found that their barcodes are slightly in from the corner. After doing our Record Label research we decided that Atlantic Records was going to be Iceburg's label. We added in the label to the left of the barcode as we had previously seen this done from other albums. We also added a copyright symbol to again, make it look more sleek and professional. Along with this, we have also decided to add the Dobly Digital logo in aswell as we have found this present in many other artists' albums similar to our artist.

We are proud and happy with our Digipak panels as they look professional and go well with the genre of our artist and style. The feedback we have received for our front and back panels of our digipak are that it looks professional and neat and that the shots have been well thought about and go really well with out target audience.

Front Cover - Final

Here is our finished front cover of our digipak. This image was taken against a plain white wall as we wanted it to look professional, we didn't want any unnecessary objects or designs in our front cover. This is because we want the focus to be on our artist Iceburg, his name, his style, and his look. This is because he is a brand new artist and we have to make him recognizable for his fans and genre. The changes we have made since our last edit are that we have moved the 'Parental Adivsory' logo to the left and we have also taken it in slightly so that it isn't touching the corner of the cover. Again, from our digipak reseach, we found that the Parental Advisory logo is always slightly brought in and is never touching the sides of the cover. Our feedback also suggested that the right side of the cover was 'too plain' and it would be better if we weren't covering half of Iceburg's body with the Parental Advisory sign. Our artist name and album name are clear and bold. We used the blueish colour to represent our 'icy' theme. We put the artist name beside the artists face, while the album name was much lower down towards his body. There was no particular reason for this, however people have gone on to say that this works well because if the artist and album name were closer together the cover would look more bland and that this way we fill in the gaps better. Overall we as a group are happy with our front cover as we believe it looks professional yet simple as we haven't done anything fancy because Iceburg is a debut artist and still needs to establish himself onto the scene.

Final Magazine Advert

We have made further and final changes to our magazine advert. We decided to change the old green font to a white font with a black outline. This makes it more readable and stand out more. The green was too 'ugly' and 'slimy' and totally ruined our advert. Now it looks much more 'sleek' and professional. We didn't change much but we did decide to change the 'twitter' logo. We used to have the twitter logo with a blue background. Now we have got a much more modern and professional looking icon. It is just a 't' with a white outline and a transparent background.

Rough Cut 2

We listened to our feedback as much as we could. We zoomed out of the wire frame for the shot in the mirror and feel that this is a more suitable shot. We also listened to the feedback about including a shot of Josh's lips while rapping. We were unsure on the outcome of this and since doing so we have received a mixed reception for this shot.
We finally got more footage to play around with. We included more of our artist in different locations, while walking, on the phone, dancing, drinking and rapping all from various types of angles.
We also got more shots from the front of our artist to show his face. This shot has got a really good reception from our audience who have seen it so far.
We also told Josh to perform more and we have included some shots of him dancing during the video to make it look that much more professional.
We got more close ups of our artist as our main objective is to sell our artist.
This is our second rough cut for our video.

Rough Cut - Feedback

The initial feedback we received for our first rough cut of our video was that in the shot of our artist in the mirror, you could tell that we had zoomed in by using the wireframe.
In the shot above we can see our artist from the back and his reflection in the mirror. We decided that the shot was too long and therefore decided to zoom in half way during the shot to give our video more variety as we were lacking a sufficient amount of footage. On Final Cut however, it wasn't zoomed in this much, it was during the youtube upload that it was zoomed in this much.
As it was our first rough cut and lacked footage, our feedback was that some of the sequences in our footage could be shortened and we could add more from various locations.
A popular bit of feedback was that to get Matthew in the video performing with Josh as he is very confident and it could work well with two people working in a band. We however didn't take this bit of feedback on board as Matthew wasn't 100% confident in doing this type of video. We feel that we can still make our video as good with just one artist, as the reason people said this was because of Matthew's performance skills. We have now told Josh to over perform hoping for a better reaction in our second rough cut. This ties in well with another bit of feedback we received. We were told that Josh has to be more confident and perform more and just let loose to give our video a much better effect.

From this shot you can't see Josh's face. This was another bit of feedback we received that there wasn't enough of our artists' face and to get more images from the front. One person told us to maybe add in a shot of Josh's lips up close while rapping to give a variety of shots instead of just standard types of shots.

Record Label Research

After much research on a various amount of record labels, we have found that the most suitable record label for our artist would be Atlantic Records. After our research we found that artists similar to ours were signed to this label. Ed Sheeran and Plan B were amongst the names that were signed to this label. These artists relate to ours as they both can rap and sing. We had a tough decision between Island Records and Atlantic Records as Island Records featured Rizzle Kicks themselves. However, Island Records had much more well known artists and we thought that as for a new artist this wouldn't be convenient.

Atlantic Records are owned by Warner Music Group. Warner are widely known and seen as the second biggest record label in the world. EMI, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group who are the other big labels that we have researched. However these labels didn't fit our criteria as they were too well known.

Atlantic Records was founded in 1947 Ahmet Ertegun and Herb Abramson. In 1967, Warner took full ownership of Atlantic Records. The label features many artists from the Rock and Roll and Jazz genre. Ever since being taken over by Warner they have widened their range of artists. They now feature artists from genres of Pop, Rock and Urban culture. Some of the most famous artists signed to Atlantic Records are 3OH!3, James Blunt, Chingy, Craig David, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Plan B, Sean Paul, T.I, Trey Songz and Wiz Khalifa.

Questionnaire Results

For our initial questionnaire we have gained responses from fifteen people from the 16-18 age range from eight boys and seven girls. We found that our audience listens a wide range of music and a variety of artists and genres. The majority of our audience listen to RnB and Rap/Hip-Hop and their favourite artists are mainly Ed Sheeran, Drake, 50 Cent and Rihanna. They watch a variety of music channels however, they mainly vary from the different MTV's and its genres with MTV Hits and MTV Base being the most popular. Our audience are also influenced by style as 8 people said they listen to Rihanna and 50 Cent because of their style and how they portray themselves. Nearly all but one of our audience said that they get their music from free while one said they purchase physical CD's.

From our audience research we have inferred that it will be better to release our song on iTunes as there is a decreased demand in CD's. Also, we can try to make our artists style unique and bold as people tend to listen to artists who have a wacky or weird style and sense of fashion.

This is our Questionnaire:

Digipak Draft

For our draft version of our digipak we used a template which we were given aiding us with guidelines on how big/small each panel should be. We have gone for a 6-panel digipak with a front and back cover with four inner panels which reveal shots of our artist. The shot on the bottom left was the first image to be tampered with. Our feedback was that people in the background could be seen. We then decided to change around the contrast settings on photoshop to try and fade the people in the back. We then decided to do this for the other images as well for consistency and also because they looked plain and dull. Now they look as if they are glowing to give the shots a more professional look about them. It was randomly my idea that we could use the black piece of paper in the middle image on the top as the backing for where our track listing goes. We tried writing a few tracks on it to see if it would work, we feel that it does and have since gone further with this idea.

Updated Magazine Advert

We have once again amended our magazine advert! We have now changed the colour of our font. The artist name is now in blue while the album name is in green. This was due to the fact that our album is called 'Unorthodox' and wanted to reflect this in our theme. The artist name's colour is down to the fact he is called 'Iceburg', we wanted to reflect the name in the image by making it blue and look 'icy'. Our feedback stated that our icons on the bottom left were also too big and should be compressed further. We also changed the facebook and twitter part. Instead of having the whole URL for the facebook and twitter sites, we now have '/Iceburg' and '@Iceburg'. This was again from more album art research. We found that Ed Sheeran's '+''s magazine advert had just @EdSheeran and this change was inspired by our research. The feedback for this part has been positive as there's now less to read and therefore looks much more professional. The feedback received for our font colours have been mixed with some saying that it just doesn't go where as some have claimed they quite like the colour spectrum.

Updated Magazine Advert

We decided to update our magazine advert. From the feedback we received that our initial advert looked 'unprofessional' we changed our font. We found the font using a website called www.1001freefonts.com, we were very lucky to find this website as it gave us a numerous amount of options we could use. We decided to go with this font as it went with our advert well and looked most professional for our needs. We moved the release date to the right side of the shot just below his bent knee. We moved it like this as people thought that the advert looked too 'cramped' and should be 'spaced out' more. Also, our icons at the bottom left of our advert have been shrunk in size and moved down lower towards the corner. This was because before it look like a 'child had done it' and that this way look more professional. Also, from our Album advert research similar artists like Wretch 32 had the icons towards the corner and were very small. We decided to remove the 'in stores' bit after the 'available' as it looked as if there was too much writing going on in the advert.

Rough Magazine Advert

This is our magazine advert which we created in our group. We followed a similar structure to that of Wretch 32's debut album as we feel that our artists are similar. We have included the artist name, album name, a release date, places you can buy it from and his twitter and facebook website links. We edited the photo on photoshop by giving the image a light blue mist about it. The fonts that we used were just rough and used any that looked appropriate from the options on photoshop. We thought it would be right to put the website information at the bottom of the advert as from the research we had been doing, most of the artists and labels websites were near or at the bottom.

We decided to put two places of purchase on our poster, them being HMV and iTunes, we thought as its his first studio album, it would be unlikely for our artist to be available at places such as Spotify yet.

The shot of our artist for the advert isn't the album cover, which in some instances we found that artists mostly use their album art for adverts and just elongate them so they can include all the relevant information. We did this as we want our audience to see our artist first. What he dresses like, what he looks like and what's his style. From his pose we can infer that he may be a little laid back about life and is still young and enjoying his time. We believe over time that our artist will mature and hopefully become more established therefore being able to use album arts and album adverts not featuring a shot of our artist at all.

Magazine Advert

This magazine advert is of Wretch 32's first album called 'Wretchrospective'. The advert features where you can buy or download the album, a release date, featuring artists, the artist name, the artist name, a picture of the album cover with the artist. The advert also includes the myspace website of the artist and also features the name of the record label. Our magazine could be similar as this was the artists first studio album release, and follows quite a simple theme, with a silhouette background of a council estate which looks drawn by graffiti. It doesn't have any ratings or quotes, which you wouldn't expect on an artists debut album. My own magazine advert is done on paper and will be scanned in at a later time.

Vernallis Analysis - Eminem - Lose Yourself

Narrative:
The video is half performance based and half narrative. The video includes many scenes from the movie '8 Mile'.
The video starts off by showing off Eminem's home town of Detroit, Michigan and shows off many shots of the city. It then cuts between Eminem performing and 'B Rabbit' (the character in the movie) readying himself for a rap battle. It shows B Rabbit performing to himself in the mirror until the lyrics come in. Eminem starts to rap about how nervous and sick B Rabbit is feeling before his battle but how on the surface he looks 'calm and ready'. However when it's B Rabbits turn to rap he breaks down and doesn't rap anything, he just lets the music play while he anxiously watches the crowd boo and insult him.

During the second verse of the song it still cuts between Eminem performing and parts of B Rabbit from the movie. The parts of B Rabbit start off with him being violent at the start of the second verse due to the frustration suffered from his previous rap battle. It looks as though B Rabbit is giving up as he's going home but in fact he is trying to practice further. He then enters a new rap battle to which he seems more ready for, it then cuts between him practising even more with jump cut fades to show the amount of time lapsed while he's practising. We then see him coming home since a long time to his daughter who barely recognizes her own father due to his time spent battling.

During the second chorus we now see B Rabbit performing to the crowd who are reacting wildly to his lyrics. It seems as if he now has the crowd on his side and has faced his fears of being a white rapper and has won over the crowd. During the third verse we see B Rabbit again battling against an opponent and looks much more confident. It then cuts back to the scene where he's meeting his daughter who eventually runs away from him as she doesn't recognize him. When the third chorus kicks in we see B Rabbit performing in a rap battle while the crowd are holding him up. There are also many cuts of B Rabbit and his love interest when they're together and when they're not. Towards the end of the song Eminem says 'you can do anything you set your mind to man' and then walks away. This could be suggesting that if like B Rabbit you don't succeed at first you can still succeed eventually if you keep your mind to it. The video then finishes with night shots of the city.

There is a visual response to the music as the scenes represent the lyrics. Eminem's lyrics says 'there's vomit on his sweater already, moms spaghetti' while the scene is of B Rabbit throwing up in the toilets.
In this video there is more performance than narrative as we can see Eminem rapping towards the camera in this shot. The narrative is slightly confusing as we don't see the whole story, we only see partial bits from the movie which have been selected. There also doesn't seem to be a clear beginning, middle or end. The music is very upbeat and the lyrics are rapped with passion to give the video more drive and effect. During the end there are just shots of the city to which it zooms out and fades out to finish.
The video doesn't really answer any of our questions whether he makes up with his daughter or what happens with his love interest.

Editing:

The editing is fast and sometimes it is difficult to see what is going on. The edit is cut to the beat in some places to give the video that extra buzz. The video also shows something happening in B Rabbit's life, and then later on in the video it shows something that happened prior to that which breaks continuity. There are many jump cuts while Eminem is performing as we can see in the two images below.

Camera Movement and Framing:
We see in this shot below that this is an extreme close up of B Rabbit's daughter.

We see Eminem perform during the video at fairly similar shots. He is always in the centre of the frame and is always rapping towards the camera.
During the start and end we see many establishing shots of the city during day and night as we can see below.

Diagesis:
We are unsure of what is going on at the start, and the video only makes slight sense to those who have knowledge of the actual movie. As the song is the soundtrack to the movie, the music video will not want to reveal much about the movie. Therefore this music video doesn't give us much of a clear cut story as the video is meant to entice us into watching the movie. A lot of the scenes from the rap battles are repeated. Also, the beat is the same throughout but from the start and end, the video is also very dull throughout, which maybe represents the life that B Rabbit lives in.

Artist Name

Our artist will be called Iceburg. Although our track features our artist saying 'It's Rizz!' at the start of the song and we also have a track called 'Rizz' on our album, this is because this is Iceburgs alternate name. Most rappers nowadays have an alternate name. For example, Eminem is also known as The Slim Shady and Tyler, the Creator is also known as Wolf Haley. We are just trying to promote our artists alternate name in his first song and album.

Digipak Design

We found this tutorial on www.adobetutorialz.com
For our Digipak cover we decided to give our image the 'spotlight effect' from photoshop pointing on to our artist. We were all not familiar with using this effect on photoshop and therefore had to find online tutorials in order for us to find out how to use this effect. We had trouble getting to grips with using the effect at the start and had to mess around with it a few times. We were going by an online tutorial and found that it was too vague, and we then decided to use YouTube to find another tutorial and then found it much more easier to use this effect as we could follow what the tutorial was saying. This tutotrial was much better found on YouTube

This is a preliminary Digipak cover for our artist's album. This is just a rough idea of what we plan to do, we may not use this image for the final cover.

Test Shoot

On Monday 17th October we decided to take a test shoot for our first sequence. From this we inferred that our artist needs to put on more of a performance during filming and that we need our artist to practice the lyrics more. Overall the lighting and the angles for our test shoot were fine. On Thursday 20th October we will be filming in the booth again, but this time we will be hoping to film for our real video. We will be uploading some of the test shoot soon.

We hope from our shoot on the 20th that our artist is more confident with the lyrics and his own performance. We have advised our artist to use more hand gestures and to look more in to the song. The test shoot went really well and our artist wasn't bad but we just thought for our music video to be more successful that we would need our artist to 'over perform'. We are also thinking of adding in a new shot, which will be an over the shoulder shot of Josh rapping but in the distance you will see me and Matthew through the other side of the booth and we will act as the producers of the track. We will try this out and see if it looks good, If however it doesn't we will remove this shot from our footage or add it to our deleted scenes.

Shot Sequences

Our first sequence will be filmed in the booth
Our second sequence will be in and around the common room

The third sequence will be shot in Josh's bedroom

Our fourth sequence will be shot outside a club in Harrow town centre.

Locations

We have decided to use 4 main locations.

Costumes

Here is our costumes and prop list.

Storyboard

Here is our storyboard that we created for our Music Video.

Photoshoot

Me and Matthew got hold of two cameras, told Josh to bring in his performing outfit, and decided to take snaps around the school. We initially started by just taking random photos of Josh to give the pictures a natural and authentic look. However, for some shots we directed Josh to stand and pose in certain ways and locations. These images that were taken today may be used for our Digi-pack and Magazine Advert. We plan to take more photos during test shoots.

Thursday 13 October 2011

Plan for Photoshoot

During our next lesson we plan to tell Josh to bring in his selected costume so we can see how he will look. We will also take pictures and test how they look on the screen. These pictures will give us knowledge whether we want Josh to take part as the lead actor in our video. They also may even be used for our rough magazine advert and digipak.

Music Television Research

As our song is a blend of a variety of genres, we can promote and show our music video to a range of music channels. Our song could fit under the genre of Rap, Pop, Rock and Indie. As we all know that MTV is the biggest brand in Music Television, therefore we aim to target this channel. MTV has many channels each boasting a different genre. We aim to show our video on channels such as MTV Base (predominantly showing videos of a hip hop and rap genre), MTV Hits (showing a variety of genres, mainly pop), VIVA (again, a variety of genres are shown, mainly top 40 charts) and MTV Rocks (displaying music from the rock genre). Also, as our video was filmed in HD we can also show our video on MTVN HD, a new channel by MTV showing everything in High Definition format. Although MTV are the biggest brand in music television, we also aim to show our video through other channels such as Channel AKA (mainly showing home grown artists), Kiss (a variety of music from all genres), The Box (pop music mainly showing the top singles) and Channel 4 Music (a variety of genres, displaying up and coming talent which isn't necessarily the most commercial). We hope that we have targeted the main music channels in order for our song to gain popularity.

Thinking about the audience

How would you describe the target audience for this kind of music? Is there a core and secondary audience?
The target audience for our song would mainly be teenagers ranged from 13-19 as the lyrics that the artist use can relate to children of that age range as they rap about parties, high school, college and girls. The audience will be mainly for boys however, as the band also come under the genre of pop, some of their tracks may appeal to female fans too. There may be a secondary audience who are maybe a little older than teenagers from 18-23 who are studying in university as they can relate to some of the lyrics that the band use.

How would you describe the tastes and attitudes of the target audience? What other media are they likely to consume? Outline their media consumption profile.

What function does this kind of music serve to its audience (uses and gratification)?
The music gives its target audience a perspective of their lives and actions at things which the target audience participate in like parties and college for instance. The audience may be able to relate to their lyrics and videos as they show it in a humorous way which appeals to their fans.

Music fans often use music to help them construct their own cultural and visual identity - how do fans of your artist or band do this?
The Rizzle Kicks have quite a unique dress sense and wear clothes which represent the youth nowadays. Their clothing is quite eye catching and appealing and can be found in many highstreet retail shops. Many fans may watch their videos or see images of the band and try to imitate their style and clothing. One of the members of the band also uses the guitar and a certain type of drums in his videos. This could encourage fans to try and learn one of these instruments as he makes it look 'trendy' due to his style and way of playing it.

How/when/where is this kind of music consumed?
A couple of Rizzle Kicks' tracks are used in advertisements and in TV shows as they have a memorable beat which stays in peoples heads and are quite catchy. Some of their songs would also be played at house parties or at clubs. The radio is another place where the Rizzle Kicks' tracks would be consumed. The Rizzle Kicks' have their own Twitter and Facebook pages where they have over 200,000 fans where they release gig dates and single and album information. They use it mainly to promote and it's a good and easy way for their fans to consume their music.

Album Art Research

This is the Rizzle Kick's first studio album which will be released on the 31st October. The album art shows the two members of Rizzle Kicks sitting with blank expressions on their faces, with their title name on the top left with the album name just below it to the right of it. The background is bright and plain which doesn't necessarily represent the genre of Indie/Rap. There is no real way of portraying what the genre 'looks like' as its a new and fresh type of genre which not many artists can do.
Some Artists similar to the Rizzle Kicks are The Streets, Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32 and Mann and their album arts look like:

Possible song choice

Pros: Easy to sing
Repetition of some words which could be edited well in the video
Lyrics relate to things you can do which could be shown easily.

Cons: Too recent

"Heart Skips A Beat"
(feat. Rizzle Kicks)

[Verse 1]
I can see you're not yourself
Even when you're here with me
I know that you're somewhere else

So put another record on
Kiss and leave me on
Nothing really matters when we're dancing
Listen to the same sad song playing on repeat
Cause every time we come this close, my heart skips, skips a beat

[Chorus]
So come on, spin me around
Now I don't wanna go home
Cause when you hold me like this you know my heart skips, skips a beat
I know I should, but I can't leave it alone
And when you hold me like this that's when my heart skips, skips a beat
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

[Verse 2]
So hung up
We can't let go
If you really have to leave
One more time just move me slow

So put another record on
Playing on repeat,
Nothing really matters when we're dancing
Cause all you need to know, is what you do to me,
And every time you hold me close, my heart skips, skips a beat

[Chorus]
So come on, spin me around
Now I don't wanna go home
Cause when you hold me like this you know my heart skips, skips a beat
I know I should, but I can't leave it alone
And when you hold me like this that's when my heart skips, skips a beat
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

[Rizzle Kicks - Rap]
Rizzle Kicks, Yeah
At the start of the night I was like, what?
Let's have a team talk,
Playing with this lady isn't something I'd agree for,
Vibes keep going up and down like a see-saw
Should have just taken her to the cinema to see saw,
Ooh, she let me stay with her, I figured her figure's a sure sure winner,
Plus, I've got to leave from the back I'm a skipper,
You make my heart skip, skip, skip, skip, skip, skip a beat.

[Olly - Chorus/Outro]
So come on, spin me around
Now I don't wanna go home
Cause when you hold me like this you know my heart skips, skips a beat
I know I should, but I can't leave it alone
And when you hold me like this that's when my heart skips, skips a beat
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Possible song choice

Pros: Fast and the video can be edited well with the beat
Easy to sing/rap

Cons: Would be totally different to the original video
Foul language

"Flashing Lights"
(feat. Dwele)

Flashing lights, lights
Flashing lights, lights
Flashing lights, lights
Flashing lights, lights

[Kanye West]
She don't believe in shootin' stars,
but she believe in shoes & cars
Wood floors in the new apartment,
couture from the store's department
You more like L'eau de Stardee shit,
I'm more of the, trips to Florida
Order the h'orderves, views of the Water
Straight from the page of your favorite author
And the weather so breezy,
man why can't life always be this easy
She in the mirror dancing so sleazy,
I get a call like where are you Yeezy
Try to hit you with a 'Oeur de Whopee'
Till I get flashed by the paparazzi
Damn, these nigga's got me,
I hate these nigga's more than the Nazis

[Dwele]
As I recall, I know you love to show off
But I never thought that you would take it this far
What do I know? Flashing lights, lights
What do I know? Flashing lights, lights

[Kanye West]
I know it's been a while,
Sweetheart, we hard-ly talk, I was doing my thing
I know I was foul bay-bay,
a-bay late-ly you been all on my brain,
And if somebody would've told me a month ago
Fronting though, yo I wouldn't wanna know
If somebody would've told me a year ago
it'd go, get this difficult
Feeling like Katrina with no fema
Like Martin with no Gina
Like a flight with no visa
First class with the seat back I still see ya
In my past, you on the other side of the glass
Of my memory's museum,
I'm just saying, Hey Mona Lisa,
come home you know you can't Rome without Caesar

[Dwele]
As I recall, I know you love to show off
But I never thought that you would take it this far
What do I know? Flashing lights, lights
What do I know? Flashing lights, lights

As you recall, you know I love to show off
But you never thought that I would take it this far
What do you know? Flashing lights, lights
What do you know? Flashing lights, lights

Flashing lights, lights
Flashing lights, lights

[Fade out]
Lights, lights, lights, lights...

Possible song choice

Pros: Lyrics are easy to learn/sing/rap
Not well known
Would be easier to shoot as you could film and follow the performer singing on the streets rather than in a nightclub or studio

Cons: The performer would have to stay still
Song isn't fast and would be difficult to edit quickly
Would be difficult to use many sets

Hi, my name is Jamie, there was a time when radio played me
Cause my music came from my heart, it was real to me
But now it's apart
I'm here struggling, keeping it real, while the rested and my hustling seek in until
Sometimes I sit back and think Jamie just one … make a couple cheese and chill
The reason I started making music is the sad same reason that I'll never do it, I swear
I didn't go through all that for this
I'll give that a miss, that's just how it is, unfair, straight
Who could tell me different, who could be the comment
Mind on the mission, my music is me, and I am my music
So like it or love it, I'ma do this

[Chorus]
I never had a playlist in my heart, oho
Now I need an A list just to chart
For I've been famous from the start
How am I gonna make my mark?
Are you gonna play me, though, someone's never meant for the radio?
I get …radio spin, I'm just doing my thing, and I don't have time for a playlist
How much will you pay me though? Someone's not a hit on the radio, oho, oho, oho, oh

Thank God for night clubs and the rating …
Don't think they like us on the airwaves
Unless we … down, the cordial music is boring me now
I swear, I guess it matter what your goal is
Or in this music scene, what your role is
I'm still trying here, cause I'm a pioneer
I use my mouth less than I use my eyes and ears
See I'm just telling you the truth
Can't shoot the messenger
bullet proof proof,

You won't hear me on the radio, but go to the rave and crowd, they're raising roof
Why does that? What's going on there?
To tell you the truth, I don't really care
I am my music, my music is me
Like it or not, this is how it's gonna be

[Chorus]
I never had a playlist in my heart, oho
Now I need an A list just to chart
For I've been famous from the start
How am I gonna make my mark?
Are you gonna play me, though, someone's never meant for the radio
I get …radio spin, I'm just doing my thing, and I don't have time for a playlist
How much will you pay me though? Someone's not a hit on the radio, oho, oho, oho, oh

I feel it on the airwave, spinning on the dial
Playing through the speakers, written by the part
So won't you hear me out?
Never feel it from the bass line, feel it in the club
Maybe I could take time singing for the dub
So won't you hear me out?
Are you gonna play me, though, someone's never meant for the radio
I get …radio spin, I'm just doing my thing, and I don't have time for a playlist
How much will you pay me though? Someone's not a hit on the radio, oho, oho, oho, oh
Are you gonna play me, though, someone's never meant for the radio
I get …radio spin, I'm just doing my thing, and I don't have time for a playlist
How much will you pay me though? Someone's not a hit on the radio, oho, oho, oho, oh.

Artist Development - Eminem

Eminem released his first studio album in 1996 called Infinite and he said this "Obviously, I was young and influenced by other artists, and I got a lot of feedback saying that I sounded like Nas and AZ. 'Infinite' was me trying to figure out how I wanted my rap style to be, how I wanted to sound on the mic and present myself. It was a growing stage. I felt like 'Infinite' was like a demo that just got pressed up."
Eminem is known to be quite funny and silly and he was arrested for pulling out an unloaded gun and keeping it pointed at the ground. He was given two years probation.
In 1997 Eminem started to refer to himself as 'Slim Shady'. He moved away from lyrics in Infinite about drug use, sexual acts, mental stability and over-the-top violence.
Eminem then released 'Marshall Mathers LP', 'The Eminem Show' and 'Encore'. These were all very successful albums and due to this Eminem considered ending his music career and decided to release a Greatest Hits album named 'Curtain Call'
In 2009 he released his comeback album called 'Relapse' 3 years after his last album 'The Re-Up'

However, Eminem himself wasn't happy with that album and therefore quickly released a new and more successful album named 'Recovery' which featured Rihanna and other famous artists.
Eminem has now reunited with Royce da 5'9 and formed the band 'Bad Meets Evil' which was originally formed in 1999. They have recently released an album with songs featuring artists such as Bruno Mars.
